Niall Mackle
I joined North Berwick Basketball Club at the end of P6 (10) and I have since played for my school, town, county and country.
I played for North Berwick Basketball Club in P6 and P7 winning the league both years.
From P7 to S2 I played for East Lothian, winning the Regional Schools Cup and playing in the Lothian League.
I joined the Edinburgh Kings in 2007 to play National League and have played for the Cadet team (u16) and won the league and Scottish Cup with the Junior team(u18).
I got a first call up for Scotland in 2009 and have played in Barcelona, Luxembourg, Cherbourg in the summer of 2009 and in the summer of 2010 I was (along with Grant Mackay) one of the youngest members of the most successful Scotland team ever when we achieved 14th place in the Under-18 Euro 'B' Championships in Tel Aviv. I am a qualified Level 1 coach and coached for 3 years at  North Berwick Basketball Club. I am currently studying Law at Aberdeen University and playing for the university team and City of Edinburgh when I can.

I have been playing basketball since the age of 7 and have represented my school, town, county and nation.
I played for North Berwick Basketball Club from 2002 - 2006 while also playing for the East Lothian Peregrines at county level.
Then I moved from the Peregrines to join the City Of Edinburgh Kings in 2006 in order to play in the national league. With the Kings I've won the national league and Scottish Cup.
I was first selected for the Under14 Scotland National Squad at the age of 11 and have represented Scotland every year since then, participating in friendly internationals and competitions.
I returned to the North Berwick Basketball Club as a coach for a year before heading off to Southend to work with Tim Lewis (one of the GB coaches) at his basketball academy.  In the summer of 2010 I represented GB at Under 20 age level in the European Championships.
I am now attending Davidson College in the USA on a full basketball scholarship and will hopefully play at professional level in the future.

I started playing basketball in Primary 7 when I attended North Berwick Basketball Clubs first block of training sessions at North Berwick High School.
The following year we moved into the Sports Centre where I continued to play for the club as well as represent East Lothian in the Cadette Lothian League at Medowbank Stadium.
When I was in S4 I played for the peregrines in the Cadette National League which I enjoyed greatly.
The following year I moved to the City of Edinburgh Kool Kats in order to continue playing National League basketball, where I was given the opportunity to play in and win both the Junior National League and the Scottish Cup.
I was a coach at North Berwick Basketball club for three years and enjoyed the team’s success in the league, watching the players develop and improve and the laughs all the kids provided during training sessions and games.

Rebecca Knight
I first began playing basketball when I was in primary 7.
At the time, North Berwick Basketball Club was based in the high school. After the summer we moved over to the sports centre and we started to play against other East Lothian towns in the youth league.
At the same time I started to play for the Peregrines youth team and we played games in the Lothian’s Local League in Meadowbank.
We played in this league for a few seasons then we moved up to the Cadet Women National League.
When I moved up to the junior age group I went to play for the City of Edinburgh Kool Kats.
We had a very successful season, winning both the National League and the Scottish Cup.
I also began coaching at North Berwick Basketball Club at this time.
I coached there for 3 very enjoyable years and I really enjoyed watching the players progress and improve.
This was reflected by our success the youth league and the ongoing success of many of our players.
I am currently playing for the University of Edinburgh and City of Edinburgh Kool Kats

I started playing basketball when I was in Primary 6 and joined the North Berwick club where I was coached by Marie.
In Primary 7 I was selected for the East Lothian primary squad and really enjoyed playing at lunch time in the small tournaments that Mr Barnes and Miss Allan organised.
I went on to play basketball in the under 12s, under 14s and under 16s East Lothian League.
When I was in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year I played for the Scotland under 14s and later under 15s.
When the East Lothian under 16s finished, I went to play for the City of Edinburgh Kings Basketball club where I was trained by Sean Hume.
I trained with the Kings twice a week for two years but in 5th year I felt I had to stop going as I was also playing a lot of Volleyball which is now my main sport (the games were always on the same day and often the same time so I couldn't give enough commitment to my team).
I played basketball for the North Berwick High School Team in 2010 when we were runners up in the Open Boys age group in the Scottish Cup.
I am currently at Edinburgh University where I hope to play for the university team.

I started playing basketball 5 years ago and was taught (coached) mainly by my elder brother who has come very far himself in basketball, so therefore, a lot of what I know I have learnt from him. I have played for North Berwick High School Basketball team from the end of 2004 - present and for a short time, the North Berwick Basketball club coached by Marie. I feel that I have developed well as a senior basketball player and would hope to continue playing for as long I can. In my view I am a good example for children that are short in height, as being just 5 foot 7 ins myself I give them the incentive to persevere in order to develop well in basketball and like me, develop into being a reliable senior player. In the summer of each year I play for a basketball team in England. I would like to be a permanent member but I live in Scotland, so therefore I am called upon each year in the October holiday.
Once I have finished school I plan to go on to college then university and would like to join the university’s basketball club (team). I am hoping to achieve good grades at university and if given the opportunity, a professional career from basketball.
